Death Threats Now Against Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante

Los Angeles, Alta California - April 25, 2006 - Last Thursday, we reported on a series of death threats that have been made, since "La Gran Marcha" that took place in Los Angeles on March 25th, against elected and community leaders of Mexican descent . We reported that among the leaders receiving death threats was Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villargairosa. Yesterday, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger reported that Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante also has received death threats.

Governor Schwarzenegger said, "I've asked the district attorneys throughout our state to be vigilant and swift in their actions against those who practice hate against our fellow citizens." This is great but we have little faith that anything will ever be done against these racist criminals. The staff of La Voz de Aztlan has been complaining to our local police agency about death threats, an assault against our publisher, vicious and venomous e-mails and about an envelope we received through US mail that purportedly contained "anthrax" and absolutely nothing was ever done. Our repeated complaints to the Whittier Police Department and US Postal Inspectors were totally ignored. We have now given up complaining to law enforcement, after they twice retaliated against us, and have undertaken our own security measures.

Worst of all, there have been a series of racist hate murders of undocumented Mexicans here in Alta California, Ohio and Maryland that have not been diligently investigated and solved. Three of the most abominable cases are the bludgeoning to death of a Mexican mother and her daughter in Fremont, California on February 1, 2004, the arson fire of an apartment building that burned to death 10 Mexican undocumented immigrants in Columbus, Ohio on September 12, 2004 and the heinous decapitation of three undocumented Mexican children that occurred in Baltimore, Maryland on May 27, 2004. All three cases occurred in 2004 and as of today they have not been resolved. In the case of the three young children, Baltimore police authorities blamed relatives of the children but an all Black jury refused to convict them. La Voz de Aztlan has maintained that the murders were anti-Mexican hate crimes. We received an e-mail taking credit for the murders and it was sent to the Baltimore Police Department but they ignored it.

It may turn out that the death threats to Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante and to Mayor Antonio Villargairosa is a positive development. Perhaps now authorities will take seriously what we have been reporting since January 1, 2000. There is no question that these threats are escalating now that the Mexican immigration issue has taken center stage. The criminal bigots first targeted our community leaders and our advocates for human and immigrant rights. Among these victims have been Professor Armando Navarro of the National Alliance for Human Rights, Nativo Lopez of Hermandad Mexicana Nacional (The Mexican Brotherhood), Vice Mayor Felipe Aguirre of Maywood ( Leader and founder of the "Immigrant Sanctuary Movement"), Juan Jose Gutierrez of El Movimiento Latino USA and Ollin Tezcatlipoca, leader of the Mexica Movement.

La Voz de Aztlan has maintained an archive of thousands of e-mails we have received over the past six years that include death threats and extremely racist, crass and vulgar hateful messages. Along with the e-mails, we have catalogued their originating I.P. numbers and utilizing sophisticated software we have traced their geographical origins. There is a definite pattern, and the groupings of many of the hate e-mails are coming from certain individuals and organizations. La Voz de Aztlan is willing to cooperate with any investigations concerning the death threats made against Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, Mayor Antonio Villargairosa and Vice Mayor Felipe Aguirre. We believe that those sending La Voz de Aztlan the criminal threats are the same bigots sending the threats to our elected officials.

There is one pattern we have noticed concerning the frequency of the racist e-mail messages we receive. We have noticed that every time the anti-Mexican publication WorldNetDaily publishes a report on La Voz de Aztlan, we get and extraordinary number of vicious and venomous e-mails. The same thing happens when the anti-Mexican KABC radio station in Los Angeles makes a negative commentary about or online publication. Recently, two KABC xenophobes have been ranting against Mayor Villargairosa and Lieutenant Governor Bustamante. The anti-Mexican rhetoric of KABC radio talk jocks Doug McIntyre and Al Rantel at times borders on the criminal. There is no doubt in our minds that their hateful rantings against Mayor Villargairosa, Lieutenant Governor Bustamante, and the Mexican community as a whole, is greatly contributing to the death threats they and we are receiving. Los Angeles KABC 790 AM is a Disney radio station and they, as well as other hate radio stations, are also contributing to the rising number of anti-Mexican hate crimes.

Below are just three examples of the criminal hate e-mail we receive daily. These three were received this week alone. There is worst e-mail we will not publish to respect our readership.

EXAMPLE 1
We should be shooting you brown bastards at the border and letting your bloody corpses float to the Gulf. We should be killing your "anchor" babies in our hospitals and using them for experiements. You WILL NOT get my neighborhood .. you will DIE in the process!

EXAMPLE 2
I'm going to burn you alive you potbellied monkey, and your family too. Actually, before that happens, your genitals will be severed and filmed being fed to a Chihuaha as you watch in deathly shock. And next Mr. Chihuaha will have his skull caved in as you watch. I won't crush yours in because I want you to be fully alert as you burn to death, assuming you haven't died of fright already. Yes, I will film all this and burn it onto a stack of CD's, bought with cash in another state, so manuf. #s don't put the Feds in the ballpark, free of UUIDS and identifying traces, then tape my masterpiece in public locations well after dark in case tiny hidden surveillance cams are on a loop. It would be too difficult to post on YouTube without some evidence dropped.

Please you scum sucking spics, try to take part of America from us. I will enjoy slaughtering your people just as my forefathers did. Mexico is nothing compaired to the United States. We are strong and powerful while children go hungry on your streets because of your incompetence. You will be destroyed and you will all die.
