LAPD receiving intensive "riot control" training for May 1st protests

The Los Angeles Police Department is providing 10 hour courses for its cops on how to deal with demonstrators in preparation for the massive pro-immigrant rallies expected on Tuesday May 1st. Last year the LAPD rioted at MacArthur Park and rogue cops beat demonstrators and reporters to the ground with batons and shot many, including women and children, with potentially lethal rubber bullets.

Out of that fiasco one high level police commander lost his job and at least 22 cops are still under investigation for police brutality. There are presently numerous court cases in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the LAPD seeking monetary damages for the beatings plaintiffs received.

MacArthur Park is located in a predominantly Latino immigrant community just west of downtown Los Angeles. It is policed by the infamous Rampart Division of the LAPD. For an excellent description of the notorious Rampart Division see:
