Letter from a Survivor of Tierra Amarilla
As a survivor of the "Tierra Amarilla Courthouse Raid" I am delighted to read that LaVoz continues to let the people of Aztlan know that injustices took place there. The struggle continues and to those of brown color who refuse to see the truth I say "SHAME ON YOU". To those people in South Texas, especially San Antonio, you need to realize that you are losing the struggle. You may have fiesta and play mariachi music, but you are just going through the motions. You are letting oppressors use you to make money. You live in poorly made homes by your oppressor yet pay high prices for home that won't last 15 years. You work for substandard wages. You allow your children to receive poor education. You marry anglos in hopes that you will be well received in society. You give up your name because you are ashamed of who you are. When you do succeed you forget where you came from and deny your beginings. For those of you who marry anglos, you will always be considered Brown, no matter what, it's not the name they see but your color. SHAME ON YOU!
